Ups and Downs

30/06/2006

Ups> went with the ChiliGirl and measured up for her bridesmaids outfit … Chiligirl will be 8 months pregnant on the date of the wedding so she’s getting the maternity dress, not the separates that the others are wearing! So, ordered, paid for, and it’ll be here in 12 weeks.

Downs> Parents have had the granny flat next to their house condemned – bug**r! Praise God no termites in the house … but they’ve damaged the lower story of the flat so much that it can’t be saved … even though the top story is fine … stupid white ants!

Anyway …. no use crying over spilt milk etc :) … on tothe next job!

Satisfying

29/06/2006

Chucking out stuff is tremendously satisfying, don’t you think?

Not that I’ve been throwing much in the actual rubbish … it’s council cleanup this weekend, as I think I mentioned previously, and I’m still on a roll :) Woke up at 6am and leapt out of bed, raced into the garage, turned on the lights (yes, still dark), and proceeded to take the following up the hill to the kerb (garage is on my level of the house, ie 2nd level – our three story house is three story’s downhill – top floor is on road level, another driveway leads down to second level, bottom level is accessed either internally or via another stairway around the side of the house and past the pool) … 1 8 drawer chest of drawers, 6x dining chairs, 1x large glass urn with large crack in it, 20+ assorted small terracotta pots/saucers, 3x blue glass pots – medium, 1x green office chair – squeaky, 1x bar stool – old, 1x pair of blue flippers. took me nearly an hour but it felt great to get it all done – and there’s a lot more room in the garage now, and the pile of stuff I have to sort through before I move looks a great deal smaller, which is very encouraging!

Whoever gets me in WISE might get a bonus once I start going through things – never know your luck!

No real reason, work is fine, it’s just that it’s a really nice afternoon, and I’ve got lots to do and I’d rather do them in daylight … I HATE the early dark in Winter, the Yugoslav in me comes out at this point, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE daylight savings time!

I don’t think I have S.A.D. but maybe little tinges of it …. do you know how excited I was to find out Tasmania has daylight savings time running for longer than New South Wales? Very!

Another sign (like I needed any) that I’m meant to move there :)

Oh yes … that football thingo … best comment at least once on it … um … we did really well to get there …. Guus Hiddinck ROCKs … Harry Kewell is seriously cute … Lucas Neill is an AWESOME player …. that ref really sucked …. that Italian guy DEFINITELY took a dive (no, I’m not a soccer international BUT I spent many many many many far too many years watching brothers playing – U5’s – U16 Rep sides + played myself for a little while … so, not an expert BUT who needs to be when it’s that obvious?) … I think most Aussies are pretty satisfied with where we got to though … top 16 is great … and you know how competitive we are, so you’ve had your warning soccer world … look out in the next World Cup, ’cause it’s all ours – better get used to the idea now :)

Ok, better get back to the work I’m being paid for …. seriously, I’d really rather be out in the sun … ah well …..

No Violence

27/06/2006

Thanks Ian and Tired for your comments :)

I’m good now, sometimes I just need to have a bit of a rant (you may have noticed the odd blog in this vein!) and then it’s all out of my system and I can act like a rational normal human being again.

Also good to remember that God has everything under control … I know it, but sometimes you just want to put that to the side and have a whinge!

Anyway, life is good, I’ve sorted through stuff, the St Vincent de Paul/Lifeline donation pile is growing, I’ve finished the thank you’s for the engagement presents (feeling VERY virtuous) and what’s more I’ve posted them!, and I’m feeling very good about life in general.

And Mr Tasmania in particular :)

I just want to say a huge thankyou and give a big virtual hug and kiss to my beautiful fiance, Mr Tasmania.

I had a shocker yesterday evening, I’ve just had it with my flatmates … 3 of whom couldn’t organise their way out of a paper bag, and if I wasn’t doing stuff for them … anyway … we won’t go into all that.

That idea is that I’m starting the changeover for when I leave … and I’m biting my tongue and repeatinging the word ‘grace’ to myself far more frequently than I used to! I rang Mr Tas for a whinge and a moan last night … and he was so lovely and patient and kind … and absolutely the most supportive person imaginable. Am I blessed or what!

I had a really bad night’s sleep – should have just got up and watched the Australia/Italy game – but, after talking to him again this morning, I’m feeling a lot better and have made a few decisions as to how to proceed. It’s partly because I’m preparing to leave so I’m sorting through stuff and trying to organise it, and partly ’cause it’s been a great house for me over the years and I’ll miss it … and I guess partly because I’ve got a hell of a lot on my plate at the moment. But, one thing at a time, make lots of notes, and smile at everyone!

I am so glad (that really doesn’t say enough but you know what I mean) that I have this beautiful man in my life – and I’ve got him forever :)

I have had a full on action weekend, I will not bore you with all the details, suffice it to say it included dragging beds, bookshelves, chairs etc up on to the kerb in front of our house for the twice yearly council cleanup … very satisfying! I am now sleeping on a mattress on the floor, but it means that I won’t have to think about getting rid of my scungy old wooden single bed in December … I do have a beautiful queen size bed, currently in pieces at my parents house, but if I had that in the room I live in I wouldn’t be able ot fit anything else in … so back to single bed it was, at the ripe old age of 29 – sad!

anyhoo, done that, updated the bridal registry, spent Saturday bopping about beautiful Sydney on a gorgeous 20degC sunny Sydney Winter day (ha!), and visited the Bridal Shoe Shop – hooray :) . The Valkyrie showed me where it was and we pootled on it, and tried on 1 pair … yep, that’s one pair … and put ‘em on layby! I’m very impressed with myself :)

We then ducked upstairs to ‘A Bride’s Blessing’ (blerg, what a name … but the shop is awesome and the staff are FABULOUS!!!!! – recommend them to anyone in Oz who wants to organise a fuss free wedding!!!) and checked out the ‘alternate’ bridesmaid dress … you see, one of my four bridesmaids will be 7.5 months pregnant on the wedding day, so the separates originally chosen just will not work :)

Ah, just a little bump (well, it will be a big bump) … means I’ve slightly changed my colour ideas too … from 4 in one colour to 2 in 1 colour and 2 in another colour … different tones of the same colour but I think it will look great :)

I live in a large house, 3 stories high. We have a pool. We have 5 toilets (I may have mentioned this before but, as also mentioned before, in a house with 5 women, it’s a good thing). We have a large kitchen, currently inhabited by 3 fridges and an upright freezer.

This large kitchen comes ready furnished with a large oven which has 2 ovens within it, one large, one smaller, side by side, as well as four hotplates on top.

REcently, the oven stopped working. The little man came and fixed one side … other side still inoperable.

I quote the real estate agent today "do you really need the second side?"

ummmmmm

Yes!!!!!

You big doofus! (I didn’t say that bit)

Seriously, 5 chicks, we all cook, we all cook seperately, we all have guests over … yeah, sure, one oven will do … do you want a couple of hotplates to go with that while you’re at it? and why not take away a couple of loos, that’d save the landlord money somehow I’m sure.

I mean, it’s not like we’re paying a fortune in rent …. oh sorry, my mistake, YES WE ARE!!!!

and you can’t even manage to inspect the place every six months … good grief.

Yes, it’s raining in Sydney … has been all week … and while it’s very nice and clean the place up a treat (and sorts out the good drivers from the nongs … survival of the fittest etc) … IT’S IN THE WRONG PLACE!

Seriously, Sydney doesn’t need rain … all rain does is persuade the cityliving Sydneyites, who have no idea how the rest of our vast country lives, that the drought must be over or irrelevant …. I’ve given up trying to extract the average Sydneyite’s head from a vast black orifice which shall remain nameless … basically, if it’s outside Sydney it pretty much is nothing to do with them …. pretty sad when you think Australian’s are one of the most mobile, travelled nations in the world … i think that’s pretty much only international travel ….

anyway …. we’re doing our bit in December and having an Aussie, South Coast honeymoon … I found out yesterday that the place we’ve booked for the second part of it is 4.5 stars! I had no idea … maybe the 42in flat screen TV’s in every room should have given it away ….

Sat down last night to go through all the bridal mags I have floating about … obviously don’t need them for the dress anymore but there are still plenty of ideas in them … decided to just pull out pages rather than keep them, who needs half a ton of mags once they’re married? so, big storm of bits of paper in the lounge at present … hopefully will finish that tonight.

Thanks for prayers yesterday Ian .. BroBoss is back in the office, and the ChiliGirl is on the mend :) … amazing what a little prayer cover will do for us eh – and what a reminder to keep on doing it and not just ‘expect’ from God but actually ‘participate’ in the relationship ….

Post tags:

If anyone’s in the mood I’d appreciate a little prayer for the BroBoss and his family … The ChiliGirl spent part of last night in hospital on a drip with massive stomach cramps etc and has had little sleep since with migraine … the BroBoss is down with, we think, the flu … which of course for a guy who rarely gets sick means that he’s got something like the bubonic plague …. not that I"m not sympathetic, but sometimes …

Anyway, along with all this, we are on enormous deadlines at work, the server was not working when we got into the office (but it is now), and things just keep getting chucked at us …

So, a little prayer if you have a second would be much appreciated … it’s all attack due to the business expanding etc, so we’re praying hard for protection on all of us (The Wunderkind flung himself backwards in his chair yesterday and cracked his head on the wooden floor … well, thumped it, no skin broken, just massive yelling – no concussion thank the Lord!) … it’s just nice to know that others are with us in prayer :)

Thanks all!
