of bedroom doors
29/11/2006
They are a very very very good thing.
I have been staying with the BroBoss and the ChiliGirl, as I am essentially just a tourist on the mainland now
, and they have been very generous BUT I have been on the convertible couch in the room with the TV … which is fine … except that the WunderKind loooovvvveees his Wiggles / Thomas the Tank Engine / Brain Builders DVD’s in the morning …
We wake up around the same time 5:15′ish … but I usually have a little brain time, prayer time, reading time etc … now it’s Wiggle time!
So, the door? Well … they moved on the weekend … and the couch is now in the room set aside for the new baby, who arrives in January …. Wunderkind had a full bore tanty this morning at 5am … and Aunty High Heels just rolled over and went back to sleep until 6am – bliss!
not so bliss getting the back out of bed, as it had set in one position overnight! But it’s loosened up nicely now, and I’m being good and using my stomach muscles to support myself, so hopefully, fingers crossed and lots of prayers, I’m fully on the mend.
I’m sure the ability to shut the door and a) sleep b) get changed without having to go to the bathroom c) leave my makeup and bits and bobs lying around instead of having to pack it all up d) have the curtains closed until I want them opened etc is making a huge difference to that!
And yes, Jack, only 17 (now 16) sleeps to go and it has come around fast! Until Sunday it was 5 weeks since I’d seen my boy and I hated that … but we realised that was the last big lump of time we’ll ever have to spend apart … and it got rid of a huge chunk of time before the wedding, so it’s crept up on us! Luckily the Super Parents are well and truly on the job and organising mightily!!!!
Prayers for one of Mr Tasmania’s oldest mates and his family if you will …. their house burnt down last night and they’ve lost everything except a couple of photo albums and the passport belonging to the exchange student (who is having a VERY interesting experience of life in Tasmania, Australia!).
wahoo, I’ve had 450 visitors this month, that’s the most ever
thanks all!
Mind you, I’m in two minds about that … I kind of treat this wiblog like an agony aunt, and get it all out, the good and the bad … so am I using as a diary, or a letter to some friends, or as a grandstand? Maybe all three at times
Ah well … I’ll just keep blathering and you can read if you want, how’s that?
my back did not really enjoy the Tassie to Melbourne leg of the trip this morning … but after a walk around the terminal, including a gate change at the last minute! (thanks VirginBlue!, not!!!!), the rest of the trip was great, a bit roller coastery coming in to Sydney, but a great view out the windows … and only two sleeps ’til I see my boy again, as he’s up here on the weekend – his last visit before our wedding, which is only 17 sleeps away.
The two days in the new job were great, I will have lovely workmates, the atmosphere is good, the location is great … the job isn’t anything I haven’t done before, just a lot of stuff I will have to get to know on the job, so can’t prepare greatly … but that’s okay, I’ll work it out. I might have a few stressful weeks but I’m sure I’ll get there!
of working and sore backs and Tasmania
27/11/2006
I’m here, on my second day in the job, working for the Federal Govt! It’s going to be a great job, they’re lovely, LOTS to learn but should be interesting.
I have had a lovely time with Mr Tasmania, less than 3 weeks until I’m Mrs Tasmania
… we’ve visited friends, walked on the beach, had a wonderful wonderful time.
And now my back, which was improving, is playing up … I had a massive twinge this morning as I came in to work – very very painful … but, I’ve taken some painkillers and will be good and use the lift not the stairs so hopefully that will be okay.
stop it, stop it now!

I have been to the chiropractor this morning, for the first time in my life – not bad for 36
I guess.
My back, as you know, has been a bit sore the last fortnight, after I pulled some muscles (I thought) … last night, whilst putting something on a plate!, it went out with a thump! No real pain involved but a lot of shock – BroBoss and ChileGirl saw it happen and were a bit freaked out. So, I slept but was uncomfortable all last night, and they got me in to their (very popular) chiro first thing this morning.
Thank you Jesus it’s ‘only’ a strained/sprained/stretched ligament – something or other lumbar – basically, my lower right back has a sprain! So, antiinflammatories, ice, rest, no lifting etc etc …. and I have to drive a lot tomorrow and catch a plane on Sunday am – which is fine, but will hurt. I guess forewarned is forearmed. He basically said my back is tired and needs a break – so do I!
I had a little meltdown on poor mum last night, I guess it was a shock and I just have so many things to do in the next 3 weeks, so I was really scared about how, if it was really bad ie a disk!, it would affect everything – and who wants to damage a disk 3 weeks before their wedding!
Ah well, it could have been tremendously worse – and I don’t know what I’d have done if he’d said I couldn’t fly – I haven’t seen my boy for 5 weeks! I think I would have walked to Tassie!!!!
I went to Dolcissimo Italian Restaurant in Haberfield last night, to have dinner with a good mate. She’s a lovely girl, lots of fun, and we had a great time. I particularly enjoyed the antipasto platter and we took takeaway Pistachio and Chocolate Chip Gelato back to her place for dessert. Her husband, whom the BroBoss calls Greenwich Mean Time (he’s swiss), was there, teaching students (he’s an amazing jazz guitarist) so I caught up with him over coffee and gelato too.
She made me a gorgeous present for my shower, a green glass bead necklace, with gorgeous clear beads, lovely ‘beach’ glass, and very pretty larger beads with beautiful designs enclosed in them, as well as two differently sized pairs of earrings to go with – very special!
I drove back home through the city and, whilst talking to Mr Tasmania, was musing on the fact that there are parts of Sydney which look dodgy which I’m quite comfortable driving through ie the drive down Wattle Street to turn right up to Darling Harbour … it’s dark, quiet, large buildings, could be quite uncomfortable but doesn’t bother me in the slightest … and then there’s other parts which are seemingly safe which bother me immensely ie I’m quite uncomfortable walking through sections of Dee Why after dusk, and there’s lots of people and houses and it should be safe … it just feels odd … weird …
My job of the day is to go and get my licence renewed. Unfortunately I am going swimming after work and have my hair in a ponytail and have no makeup on … gorgeous not! Ah well …. I will have a to get a new one when I get to Tassie so it doesn’t really matter I guess …
well, no answer at home to the last two phone calls, so that means dad has been called out to the Wollondilly Fires, behind Berrima and Canyonleigh, in the Southern Highlands.
It’s not massive, ‘Only’ covers 600ha at this point (the one in the Blueys, as we call the Blue Mountains, has joined and spread and now covers an area of 14500ha), but still, it’s bad firefighting weather, hot, dry, and windy, with NOT ONE SINGLE DROP OF RAIN in sight.
prayers for rain and calm conditions muchly appreciated by the 75 firefighters on the Wollongdilly and the 400+ now on the fire in the Blueys … not to mention the others raging around Australia at this point.
Check this site – http://sentinel.ga.gov.au/acres/sentinel/index.shtml – if you want an idea of how extensive the fires are at this point.
of clearing out my office and bushfires
21/11/2006
I’ve just deleted 1600 emails, correspondence between Mr Tasmania and myself since March this year. I know, it’s an enormous amount – but we are 1200km’s apart so email has been vital for us. I have printed off a few of the really lovely and meaningful ones but couldn’t do them all … it was a wrench but, we have each other, so a few words in electronic files shouldn’t make a difference.
ah well ….
I’ve copied my photo folders at least 3 times and will probably do them again before I delete them – too funny!
I just don’t want to misplace anything – at least now, with Mr Tasmania, I will have a computer at home, so can download and then burn to disc asap.
And bushfires … we had a shocking night in Sydney last night, the minimum overnight was about 26C, it was dry, it was windy, and there’s a pall of smoke over the city from the massive fires in the Blue Mountains (still inaccessible, still out of control, still threatening to burst out of the Grose Valley and start burning into settled areas, as it has done historically). Poor Chiligirl has a headache from the smoke – not great when 7 months preggers, dealing with a 2 year old, and packing up a house!
I talked to mum this morning and dad was already in his firefighting gear, on standby to go fight the fires along the Wollondilly River near Goulburn … they’d been phoned earlier and told they’d be called up a little later … so he got dressed and sorted out all the gear he needs and will spend the time until the call ‘doing paperwork’ in his study – chucking stuff out hopefully! (I inherited the pack rat gene from dad!!!)
so, yes, it’s hot … and getting hotter.
there are large bushfires in the blue mountains. Mum has ‘inside knowledge’ (truly) and says that they’ve actually joined and are officially out of control – according to the news broadcasts they are ‘backburning’ and under control …. interesting! This goes along with a report a couple of months ago of a huge bank robbery (or was it an armoured car?) in the centre of Sydney … which was NOT reported in the Sydney papers, radio or tv news BUT Mr Tasmania told me it was reported on the news down there … in fact, after he told me I went hunting for it online and found reports everywhere except in NSW media …. opened my eyes a tad I can tell you! What else are we not being told? And why on earth did we need protection from news of a bank robbery?
and moving … not really me this time, though technically I’m going along – the BroBoss and family move on Saturday, so yet again I"m helping pack and surrounded by boxes …. but it’ll be a good move so I"m glad I’m here to help them do it ![]()
Of LEGEND FIANCES!!!!

Mr Tasmania just did the quiz … and scored 28/34, same as mum – not bad eh! I’m mightily impressed, and know I wouldn’t do anywhere NEAR as well on a pop quiz about him – he’s the most observant man alive!
