No, it’s not a horror story, it was actually quite a good night. I didn’t really want to go, it was at Ulverstone, which is nearly an hour’s drive from us, but I”m glad we did, we had a great night.
Mr Tasmania had a good time, he sat next to a fellow MDT teacher (whom he did prac with when he was studying) and they nattered all night. Food was good, company was good, my boss is a LEADFOOT (we followed him from Burnie), and even the Kris Kringle pressie’s were pretty good – or a least ours were. My unit had decided that you can’t get much for $5 so we put in together and bought a heap of mixed clean skins … so we took two presents of wine, and came home with a box of choccies … and one of the bottles of wine
… too funny
We were walking JD this morning, as we do every morning, and just chugging along until we got to “Kevin's Corner”. Kevin is a large Rottweiler, who has a nameless friend, and they are quite vicious. They're never walked, probably because they're too large and vicious and would try to attack anyone who walked past with a dog.
JD sometimes walks past without even looking at them, other times he gets really excited and seems to want to run over to them … we don't know whether he wants to play or just tease them, as he has a habit of teasing a couple of other dogs who are stuck behind fences, naughty boy. Anyway, this morning he was revved up, did a HUGE lunge on the lead – and the choker chain snapped! So he took off across the road, straight to them and sent them nuts running up and down the fence!
Trouble is, they can't get out, but he could get under (or over!) their gate if he decided to. Mr Tasmania was only half awake and took a few seconds to react but after he saw me take off he woke up and ran – we bracketed JD (like catching chooks) and when he tried to run past Mr Tasmania he was crash tackled – not a bad tackle for an AFL player actually J
Anyway, luckily we walk him with two collars, so we didn't have to haul him home by his collar … but I'm going down to Pet's Domain and buying the strongest choker collar I can find at lunchtime!
Of prayers for little Miss Loud

One of my work colleagues – has been trying for a number of years now to get pregnant, including taking every test under the sun – but has now been told is definitely infertile. So they're adopting. She's incredibly well adjusted – and a Christian – and is fine, basically has the attitude that that's how it is, so that's how it is. I'm more on the continual pray for healing regardless side of things though, so if anyone would like to throw up the odd prayer for Little Miss Loud and the Scottish Boy it'd be great – God will know who you're talking about (just quietly, he can read your mind!). Thanks!
I have the fastest dentist in the universe I'm sure – absolutely amazing. I had a large filling fall out on Thursday night and luckily was able to get an appointment to have it fixed this morning – and if you know anything about the state of dental health care in Australia, especially outside the cities, you will know that is AMAZING. He's actually English, from London I think, and is very good – sits you down, whips the needle in, pops in the filling, cleans you up, and off you go – 20mins, max. Love it, as I can book an appointment and know it's only going to take the equivalent of my half hour lunch break – which means I don't have to use any flex time unless I want to. I will today as I didn't have a choice of time so had to take the early morning one – if I don't get lunch as well I'll just DIE … but generally it's good.
My figure could possibly be described as Rubenesque … some days Rubenesque plus!
I'm quite happy with most of it, though there are bits which can definitely go – and have been going and will continue to – but generally pretty happy. I love my extra broad shoulders. I love being busty (most of the time – it's not all joy). I like having hips and a booty. Quite happy to be muscly as well – really happy actually, having shared a house with three excessively wimpy girls who drove me nuts!
At the moment, though, I am annoyed with it all … or, more accurately, I am annoyed with all the shops that buy from designers who refuse to believe that all women are not created equal (with equal being approximately a Size 12 [Australian] with no boobs and, possibly, no bum). The designers who make dresses with shirred tops for grown up women (not really suitable for anyone over 6, come on, be honest). The designers who have not realised that those of us with a larger bust simply cannot wear a dress with spaghetti straps without it HURTING! (let alone the falling out the sides part). The designers who have not realised that, when the top is cut to an empire waist, if a girl is busty that's basically an invitation for anyone who wants to to come on in and check out her navel!. The designs who obviously have never lived in an Australian summer (or Spring or Autumn, if it comes to that) and therefore have not worked out that polyester linings and jersey knits are really NOT fabulous fabrics for summer dresses! Petticoats are not a sensible idea! Tightly fitted bodices are ridiculous! And who wants a ‘waist' that starts under your boobs! Sure, sometimes we want to hide our hips, and we'd like a floaty cool sundress, but honestly!!!!!!!
What do I want?
I want a simple dress.
In cotton or something similarly light.
In interesting patterns but definitely not white.
With straps that you can stick your bra under.
Not cut down to my navel.
Not body ‘skimming'.
Without shirring.
Not ankle length.
No ruffles.
No flares.
No ‘interesting' jewelled, feathered, or dangly bits.
No layers.
No zips!
I really need to get out my sewing machine, find a pattern and some fabric, and make my own, don't I. Darn it!
I work out of an older house which has been quite tastefully remodelled to work as a business premises. The walls are either deep purple brown (aubergine but not quite) or mid-grey, and the floors are polished wood. We have very expensive abstract act on the walls, and the worlds largest loo (remodelled from the original family bathroom, shower / bath removed, so it's basically a large room with a small cupboard, a small loo, and a small basin in the corner, and room to dance in the middle!). It's set slightly out of a town on a block which has some plants ie camellia, banksias, lilies, azalea, grasses etc, and is fairly quiet.
It's possibly the best actual workplace I've worked in.
It makes such a huge difference to be able to walk in, sit down, and not worry about the place you're working in. If my workmates were nightmares (they're not) it'd be easier to cope in nice surroundings

I’m not going to talk about it. And I’m not telling you if I’m happy or sad. Or who I voted for. So don’t ask.
Poor Unordered (see comments on last post)! Was it an animal or a humanimal pulling out your sunflowers? I’m very glad I have my little fence around my front garden, I’d hate the wallabies and pademelons to eat all my flars!
I’ve just come back from the pottery class I go to on a Monday night – pottery group I guess, our teacher is very laid back, basically we pay her $6/hour for use of her studio and equipment, pay for clay, glaze, and firing, and come and go as we want on a Monday night. Suits me!
I’ve made some fun stuff, all hand work, no wheel. NOthing of great artistic value, just fun bits and bobs for around the place – currently drying and waiting to be glazed and fired are: some plant spikes, some round beads, a hand bowl (cut around my hand and draped over another bowl to dry), some baby mushrooms (remember the dancing mushrooms in the movie Fantasia?), some pieces to go on a mosaic tile I’m planning on doing for our neighbours (surprise), and some weird little fence post caps – one with a butterly, the other more like a beehive with a bee stuck to it. So, lots of little bits and bobs, nothing hugely artistic, but it’s all colourful and I like it
Mr TAsmania has been pootling about at home, I’ve no idea what he’s been doing except for watering the lawn, he’s finally finished his 180+ school reports so I think he’s feeling the lack of pressure.
Of gardening and stuff

Mr Tasmania is off playing golf for Rotary.
I’ve been gardening … I put in two ‘random’ lavenders (bought at his school fete for $2 each – how bad can they be?), 4 fairy fishing rods, and 5 callistemon pallidus (lemon bottlebrush). 3 of the bottlebrush are forming part of a ‘fence’ at the front of the shack – there are big sawleaf banksia but everyone who drives past basically can look straight in – and if the curtains are open at night? LEt’s just say it brings a whole new meaning to a small town knowing your every move!
Anyway, they should grow to 4m high and 3m wide so will make a difference – and flowers/little birds to boot. The other two were looking a bit sad so I’ve planted them in the same hole behind our bathroom window – Mr Tasmania insists that the neighbours cannot see through the (open) hedge and the (lace) curtain BUT it’s different for boys – doesn’t really matter if the neighbours get a nude waist up view of him!!!!!!
I’ve also put cow manure and charlie carp on all my plantings and watered the lot so I’m feeling very happy about it all. And some sunflowers I planted have started to sprout, which is great!
The bottlebrush and grevillea at the block are doing so well. I’ve take the protective bags off some just to see how they come along. Since we put the chicken wire up we’ve had no wallabies or pademelons nibbling their tops so they’re charging along. The Bottlebrush we put in three weeks ago have already doubled in size – almost like bamboo – so our hedges are already starting to look like hedges – fantastic!
We’ve had a busy week – Mr Tasmania had a brother who died many years ago, quite young, and his wife has gone on and remarried but remains very much still part of the family. She’s been visiting from WA and we had the family dinner Tuesday night – lots of fun. Wednesday night we had dinner at friends house. Thursday night I had my hair done and Mr TAsmania came home to take puppy for a walk and write reports. Friday night we were at other friends house for a BBQ (I was the youngest by about 20 years I think!) and dancing, and last night we had other friends over to us for a BBQ! Whew, never rains but it pours!!!
And speaking of rain … I can see some rather large clouds drifting in from the Nth-West, so I think, while the sun reamins out, I will turn off the computer and grab my drink and my book and go and get some VItamin D!!!
Looks like another beautiful day. Husband got up at 5am and took puppy for a long walk (1 1/2 hrs), I slept in and am now ready to get into my day! We’ve had so much more energy since JD gained his smokers bark – less stress and more sleep – it’s actually quite a remarkable difference.
Anyway, he’s now headed off down the WEst Coast with a mate to go surfing for the day and I’m gathering bits and making my list of stuff to do – might as well head out and do it early while I’m feeling energetic! Going up to the block first to water our little plants – we haven’t had much rain and I’d hate them to die now!
then a huge list of bits and pieces to do – hopefully I’ll get it all done, it’s all enjoyable stuff (except the vacuuming – might leave that to tomorrow night!)
